Wheeling Village Board approves watermain contract and multiple zoning variances; front-yard fence variation fails
The Village Board met May 4, 2026. The consent agenda passed, authorizing software license renewals, contracts for the Wheeling Road and Palatine Frontage Road watermain project (construction contract $4,426,078; construction engineering up to $234,650), and other routine items. Several zoning variances were approved (including 1042 and 1004 S. Milwaukee Ave. and an increased fence height at 77 W. Hintz Rd.), one proposed amendment for 157 W. Jeffery Ave. failed. The Board approved use of a first-floor medical office at 407 W. Dundee Rd., accepted a Rotary donation to the Wheeling Police Unity Foundation, approved bills totaling $1,658,197.07, and recessed to executive session on litigation and land acquisition.
