Port Orange City Council adopts multiple land‑use and safety measures, adjusts fund balance policy, and approves hazard mitigation actions
The City Council meeting (Aug. 19, 2025) opened with a remembrance for long‑time VIPS volunteer Mary Wittmeyer. The Consent Agenda passed unanimously, including grant management, trail construction, ballfield rehabilitation, wellfield monitoring, and a police union MOU. Council approved rezoning actions, a private aids‑to‑navigation (PATON) plan for the Riverwalk day dock, several Land Development Code amendments (with one parking‑width amendment failing), and a resolution to acquire and demolish three homes via the Hurricane Idalia HMGP. The Council amended the Fund Balance Policy to a 23%–28% range (4–1). Meeting adjourned at 9:07 p.m.
