Board re-elects officers; bond project updates provided; unanimous recommendation to rename Lakeside Park for former Mayor Allen Green
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (Jan 20, 2026) re-elected Robert Ball as Chair and Michael Navarra as Vice Chair, approved the Oct. 21, 2025 minutes, received bond project updates (Willow Run and City Center at ~90% design; White Place Park ~20%; Depot Park design underway), and unanimously recommended renaming Lakeside Park in honor of former Mayor Allen Green. Director updates included completed City Center playground and pavilion construction in progress, Causeway dock renovations scheduled, new ADA restrooms at All-Children’s Park, a nine-hole disc golf course at Bushman Park, Memorial Park boardwalk and sidewalk work (~50% complete), and potential transfer of 145-acre Gamble Place with Parks managing ~9 acres for public use. Rec Center West architect selection and procurement are scheduled for Council in February; athletics registrations and America 250 events were also discussed.
