Planning Commission approves multiple preliminary plats and recommends Cedar Creek PUD amendment
The Opelika Planning Commission met March 24, 2026. Members present included Chair Lucinda Cannon, Mayor Eddie Smith, Councilwoman Leigh Whatley, John Sweatman and others; Dr. Arturo Menefee was absent. Staff provided an update that only the North Uniroyal Road rezoning had been approved by the City Council to date. The Commission approved the February 24, 2026 minutes and granted preliminary plat approval with staff recommendations for multiple residential subdivisions (Pond View Woods, Priester Phase 1, Fieldstone Phase 4, The Preserve at Southwood, 2Eighty, Moore's Ridge Phase 1). Piedmont Property North was withdrawn by the applicant. The Commission also issued a positive recommendation to City Council for a Cedar Creek PUD master plan amendment to convert an amenity lot to five home lots and granted preliminary approval for Moore’s Ridge Phase 2. Discussion items included traffic flow and safety, sidewalks, drainage and sewer service, pump station study participation, access/driveway restrictions, and future interconnectivity.
