Commission approves CO notice for water projects, ETJ removals, TIRZ termination, contracts, and $75,000 incentive for Project Blue

At the April 21, 2026 Mercedes City Commission meeting the Commission: approved consent agenda items including rezonings and utility ordinance amendments; authorized continuation of the Rio Grande Valley Emergency Communication District 9-1-1 interlocal agreement; approved removal of multiple tracts from the City’s ETJ; adopted a Notice of Intention (Resolution 2026-19) for Certificates of Obligation to finance a ~$19M water project with Texas Water Development Board participation; approved ordinances to amend and terminate TIRZ No. 1; renewed the Medical Director contract; accepted a CINTAS uniform services contract; and authorized a $75,000 incentive to Blue Bunting Lodge (Project Blue). Staff reports covered parks/leagues, public works infrastructure (including 10th Street Bridge erosion and drainage work), and departmental updates.
