Battle Creek City Commission approves zoning changes, recovery housing mortgage, ITS contract, and utility easement; holds FY 2026–2027 budget hearing
At the May 19, 2026 regular meeting the Battle Creek City Commission held a public hearing on the proposed FY 2026–2027 budget and heard public comments, adopted zoning text amendments (Ordinance 12-2026) and a rezoning to T-3 Neighborhood Commercial (Ordinance 13-2026), approved a no-interest ten-year $862,000 mortgage to Recovery Services Unlimited, Inc. for a five-unit transitional recovery housing project at 614 NE Capital, authorized a permanent easement for Consumers Energy, accepted a not-to-exceed $1,250,000, three-year proposal from Trapeze Software Group (TripSpark) for ITS/CAD/AVL services, appointed a member to the Sustainable Battle Creek Committee, approved consent agenda items (including minutes and reports), recessed to closed session and subsequently approved settlements in Marshall v City of Battle Creek (BC0-23-59-01) and Shanks v City of Battle Creek (BC0-23-17-01). All listed motions passed unanimously.
