Council approves RHID intent, special use for pet boarding, Evergy streetlighting, and 2026-27 benefits
At the April 14, 2026 City Council meeting, the Council (Mayor Ronnie Price and six council members) unanimously approved the consent agenda including a $2,919,697.44 appropriation ordinance, a Special Use for pet grooming/boarding at 1023 N. Andover Rd., a Resolution of Intent to establish a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (Penner property), an amended Heritage West resolution of intent for up to $13,000,000 in multifamily housing revenue bonds, Evergy streetlighting design and costs for Yorktown Pkwy, and insurance renewals for the 2026–2027 plan year. A resident requested additional street lights on S. Yorktown Parkway for safety; City staff also provided an update on uncertain property tax legislation (including HB 2745 and subsequent revisions).
